My Brother's Keeper Challenge Grant

Purpose
The purpose of the My Brother's Keeper Challenge Grant is to incentivize and support school districts to develop and execute coherent cradle‑to‑college and career strategies that improve life outcomes for all students. While the initiative places a special emphasis on addressing opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color, its strategies and strengthened family–school partnerships are designed to promote the success of every student.
Program History
Since 2016, the Â鶹¹ÙÍø (Â鶹¹ÙÍø) has supported school districts through multiple My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Challenge Grant funding cycles designed to advance cradle-to-college and career strategies that improve educational outcomes for students.
- 2016–2019: Â鶹¹ÙÍø awarded MBK Challenge Grants to 40 school districts to strengthen family engagement and develop partnerships among schools, families, and community-based organizations.
- 2019–2023: Â鶹¹ÙÍø provided a second round of MBK Challenge Grant funding to eligible school districts serving students with the greatest needs.
- 2023–2027: Â鶹¹ÙÍø awarded grants under the current four-year funding cycle, providing up to $6.25 million annually to support district-led initiatives focused on student success and opportunity.
Through these funding cycles, the MBK Challenge Grant has supported local efforts to improve educational outcomes, strengthen family engagement, and expand opportunities for students across New York State.
