The term “approved teacher preparation program” refers to a degree program - completed at a college or university located within the state of New York - that leads to a designated certificate. Even though the word “teacher” is used, these programs lead to various educator certificates in New York, such as classroom teacher, career and technical teacher (CTE), pupil personnel services, and educational leadership.

Upon completion of the program, the college/university will enter a College Recommendation onto the candidate’s TEACH account signifying completion of the program and enabling the candidate to pursue the designated certificate(s).
