| Description |
A certificate of this type is issued to individuals who are enrolled in a New York State-registered residency program and have an employment and support commitment from a partnering school, school district, or BOCES. The certificate permits individuals to work only in the educational setting for which the commitment for employment and support has been made. The individual cannot be the teacher of record. If the institution of higher education or employing P-12 school has any logistical questions, they can email the Office of Teaching Initiatives to discuss further. |
| Validity |
Valid for up to three years while the candidate is matriculated in the registered residency program. However, if the candidate is unable to graduate during this time frame and they continue to matriculate, they can pursue a Time Extension. If the student completes or leaves the program, the certificate is no longer valid. The institution of higher education (IHE) is responsible for monitoring the TEACH system and informing the Office of Teaching Initiatives if the candidate’s certificate is no longer valid and needs to be expired. |
